ADabisc is using design thinking to transform redundant family entertainment venues into inspiring and educational concepts that bridge generations
Adabisc’s ambition is to change the way people connect, interact and have fun by applying new advancements in technology to create one-of-a-kind wonderlands. Our daily quest is to reinvent family entertainment and close the gap between the digital, reality and human experience.
The journey began with a question: What today has resulted in the decline of the traditional arcade? The answer lies in a revolution in three areas: the internet, social media and gaming.
This trifecta has made ground-breaking gaming available at everyone’s fingertips, allowing endless gameplay in the comfort of one’s home.
In 2017, the launch of the 44,000 square metre Family Entertainment Complex at Doha Festival City will represent the next revolution in family entertainment. Collectively the Virtuocity, Juniverse, Angry Birds World and Snow Dunes theme parks will introduce attractions for all ages and appetites that go far beyond current offerings.
Bringing a whole new world of edutainment to Qatar
The year is 2050. Orbiting 400km above earth, Juniverse is the world’s first city in space. Created as a collaboration between the world’s nations following the discovery of Zero Point Energy, Juniverse is the first step in humankind’s exploration of our galaxy.
This dual-realty, location-based multiplayer gamer is a world-first in children’s edutainment. It is led by the Juniverse 5, a team of brilliant young minds each specialising in medicine, the envrionment, enginering and more. Set in the future, Juniverse provides the opportunity for children to unlock their imaginations through dynamic learning across a wide spectrum of career-themed activities.

The Birds fly to Doha in style
With the release of a Hollywood blockbuster movie and new game releases and product lines, it has been a whirlwind few years for the world’s most downloaded gaming brand.
The Angry Birds World theme park represents another major milestone for the gaming icon. Angry Birds World will span more than 12,000 square metres and feature over 35 state-of-the-art rides and attractions, making it Qatar’s largest indoor and outdoor theme park. From a reversee bungee ride to indoor hang gliding to a soft play area, Angry Birds World caters to all ages and thrill-levels.

When ADabisc was approached to develop a children’s entertainment concept for The Gate
Mall, a multi-disciplinary team was immediately assembled to tackle the problem. Using the
design thinking process, the initial research and discovery identified educational and body-active
concepts as key opportunities for the -5and-older audience the venue was aimed at.
With family entertainment venues across Doha offering little variety, the research clearly showed
a desire for wholesome, healthy, learning experiences for children. Using game theory as a
starting point, ADabisc began developing a compact entertainment centre concept that leveraged
incentives and rewards to get children active, both mentally and physically, while having loads of
fun at the same time.
CanDo features a wearable RFID device that tracks each user journey through the entertainment
centre. Roughly half of the attractions are ‘earning’ opportunities, where children work body and
mind to gain points, which can then be ‘spent’ on rewarding activities, such as a bowling alley,
4D ride or PlayStation booth. CanDo’s ‘fun while learning’ approach has wide appeal, with many
schools already adding the venue to the field-trip roster.
The majority of attractions within CanDo were developed by
ADabisc’s in-house team of designers, strategists, game
developers and edutainment specialists. Since its launch in the
first quarter of 2016, Cando has garnered wide attention from
investors keen to franchise this unique idea across the region
and beyond.
CanDo has become an exciting destination for the whole
family to ‘Play, Learn & Energize’ in an interactive environment.
The attraction continues to grow from strength to strength, as
more parents choose holistic edutainment, which caters to
their children’s physical and educational needs, over the ‘thrillride
and arcade-game’ format that provides no developmental
benefits.
Qatar’s first indoor snow park – with an Arabian theme
ADabisc thrives on creating firsts! Yet another of our 'cool' inventions is Snow Dunes, Qatar’s first indoor snow park.
This massive original creation brings snow-capped mountains closer than you ever imagined. Rides, slides and a host of other attractions come alive in this Arabian-themed winter wonderland – complete with an Arabian castle!
With more than 4,800 square metres of sculpted ice peaks and piles of snow to wade through, all set in a -4°C atmosphere that chills as much as it thrills, Snow Dunes has been designed with users of all ages in mind.
Introducing a new age broadcast experience to a traditional café
When Al Jazeera Media Network decided to create a café of their own, the challenge was to offer the city a unique experience. ADabisc was entrusted to design a café that went beyond F&B to integrate a holistic digital experience into a contemporary eatery.
